The 7 Keys to Hearing God’s Voice
Week 1
The 7 Keys to Hearing God’s Voice
To hear God’s voice clearly, we need to use these keys:
- The Word (Bible) – God speaks primarily through Scripture. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
- The Holy Spirit – The Spirit guides us in truth. (John 16:13)
- Godly Counsel – Wise, mature believers can help confirm God’s direction. (Proverbs 11:14)
- Personal Prophecy – God may use prophetic words, but they must align with Scripture.
- Inner Peace – God’s peace acts as a guide. (Colossians 3:15)
- Confirmation – A true word from God is often confirmed multiple times.
- Circumstances – God may use events and opportunities to direct us.
Activity:
- Pick one or two keys from the list above that you want to focus on in your spiritual life.
- How can you practice listening to God using these keys?
Closing Reflection & Application
- This week, commit to spending more time listening to God.
- Choose one practical way to remove a barrier or apply a key to hear Him more clearly.
- Pray, asking God to help you recognize His voice.
Memory Verse
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” – John 10:27
Week 2
Recognizing God's Voice
How Does the Bible Guide Us?
The Bible provides three keyways of guidance:
1. Moral Guidance
2. Contextual Understanding: Exegesis and Hermeneutics
• Exegesis – Finding out what the text originally meant.
• Hermeneutics – Applying that meaning to our lives today.
3. Logos vs. Rhema: General vs. Personal Revelation
• Logos (General Revelation): The written Word of God available to everyone.
• Rhema (Personal Revelation): When a specific Scripture comes alive in your heart through the
Holy Spirit.
Practical Steps for Applying Scripture to Your Life:
1. Read the Bible Daily – Develop a habit of engaging with God’s Word.
2. Use Different Translations – Compare translations for a better understanding.
3. Study in Context – Ask: Who is speaking? Who is the audience? What is the historical
background?
4. Pray Before Reading – Ask the Holy Spirit to give you insight.
5. Cross-Check with Other Scriptures – Ensure consistency with biblical principles.
Closing Reflection & Application
• This week, commit to reading and studying one passage in context.
• Ask God to reveal a Rhema word from His Logos to you.
• Share what you learn with a friend or small group.
